Welcome to Mrs. Van Ep's (Van Epern's) 4th Grade Website. I am a fourth grade teacher at Highland Elementary School in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Columbia Heights is a first ring suburb of Minneapolis. I have been teaching at Highland for five years. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with degrees in Elementary-Middle Education 1-8, Spanish, Psychology, and Juvenile Delinquency/Criminal Justice. I love working with children, as does everyone else in my family (my brother and parents are teachers as well). My husband Luke and I live in the Twin Cities with our rescue boxer named Dempsey, whom I am training to become a reading dog!
I am looking forward to the 2009-2010 school year and all of the excitement that a new year brings. I expect great things from my class this year and look forward to "putting together the pieces of a perfect year", which is one of our themes! I believe that ALL of my students can reach great heights and achieve their personal best! I look forward to challenging each of my students and incorporating quite a bit of academic choice into my room this year so that each student can shine and show his/her uniqueness! Fourth grade is a fabulous year for learning, growing, discovering new things, and students becoming more independent in their own learning.
